Johnny Marr spotted at Wu Lyf gig
Johnny Marr, the electric guitar playing legend, was a surprise audience member at a Wu Lyf gig last weekend.
The former The Smiths band member was seen in the crowd listening to the esoteric band from Manchester who were performing in a tunnel as part of the Manchester International Festival.
Wu Lyf are known for their unwillingness to give press interviews or market themselves online or through traditional means.
Their performance at the festival is their only known appearance at a major music event over the summer.
The four-piece band played their special tunnel gig in a specially-constructed stage and venue on Great Bridgewater Street.
They performed a number of tracks from their debut album Go Tell Fire To The Mountain, which included LYF, Cave Song, Dirt, We Bros and Heavy Pop.
They also debuted an untitled song, which may indicate that they are working on new material.
The appearance of Marr could suggest that the band are in possible talks with the him on collaborating on some new music. After all, Marr is available having left The Cribs earlier this year to pursue other projects.
