Kaiser Chiefs 'make your own version' album online
The Kaiser Chiefs have surprised the music world with today's release of their 'make your own version' new album, which is now available online at their website.
By logging onto their website, fans can pick and choose ten tracks from a selection of 20 from an interactive website that puts the fun back into the way consumers engage with their music.
Once ten tracks have been selected, fans can then design a cover, after which an entirely bespoke album is generated for the price of £7.50.
Even better, fans get an opportunity to make money from their creation as a subsequent personalised website is created where "your version" can be purchased by others.
It's an innovative idea from the tambourine playing frontman Ricky Wilson and his band mates.
It comes after Coldplay teased fans with a viral campaign promoting their new song and Lady Gaga's recent declaration that 99 cents is a reasonable price for a digital album.
Like Coldplay, the Kaiser Chiefs have said very little about their fourth album, which is called The Future Is Medieval.
After all, they had only released their new single Little Shocks a few days ago, which they succinctly summed up as having a good title.
