Keith Moon 'is the wildest drummer'
Readers of Rhythm magazine were recently invited to name who they believe are the craziest personalities to sit behind a drum kit over the years.
The former Who drummer, who died in 1978, attracted the most votes, ahead of other legendary musicians such as John Bonham of Led Zeppelin.
Moon's drumming was notable for the frequent use of fast tom rolls and cymbal crashes in place of a straight backbeat.
His distinctive style is apparent on many of The Who's most famous records, including Won't Get Fooled Again, My Generation and Who Are You.
Tommy Lee of Motley Crue also made it onto the list, alongside Bill Ward of Black Sabbath and ex-Rainbow drummer Cozy Powell.
Nicko McBrain of Iron Maiden and Ringo Starr of The Beatles were also included in the top ten.Posted on 14 Aug 2009 13:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News
