Kele Okereke reveals his secret
Kele Okereke kept his solo career a secret from his Bloc Party bandmates.
The 28-year-old 'Flux' star admits he had been working on a solo album while his band were playing big festival gigs throughout summer 2009.
The singer explains that by August he had already made the songs he wanted for his solo material.
He told Radio 1's Newsbeat:"I'd written all the music by then. Immediately after Reading festival I flew to New York to finish the record - but we didn't let on. Throughout 2009 I was amassing songs and working. By that point I'd almost finished the project - but we kept it secret. We didn't tell anyone. Well, I didn't tell anyone."
When Kele was asked if he was still in Bloc Party he replied that he was, "for the time being."
Kele's first solo album, 'The Boxer' will be released later this month (21.06.10) with the first single, 'Tenderoni' hitting the shops on June 14.Posted on 4 Jun 2010 07:00 to category : Music News
