Klaxons' festival album
Klaxons are launching their long-awaited second album at this year's summer festivals.
The British group - who led the 'nu-rave' scene and won the prestigious Mercury Prize for their debut album 'Myths of the Near Future' - are releasing the LP after the summer and will be previewing it for fans at festivals across Europe.
Guitarist Simon Taylor-Davies told NME magazine: "I think in England it's just going to be Reading and Leeds, in terms of festivals, this summer.
"Then we'll tour all the way through to the festivals next year. I think we'll do a few spot shows around the summer, but this will be our big comeback."
As well as the UK festivals, Klaxons have been confirmed to play at the Benicassim Festival in Spain, the Pohoda festival in Slovakia and Poland's Open'er event.
Simon also talked about how the sound of the band - which also includes bassist Jamie Reynolds, keyboard player James Righton and drummer Steffan Halperin - has changed for their second album.
He said: "One of the fundamental things about this new record is how much of a live record it is. It was written and recorded with the four of us in a room facing each, in a room that was about three metres squared."
Klaxons admitted last year the recording of their new album was held up when their record company told them they weren't happy with it last year and asked them to re-visit parts of it.
At the time, Jamie said: "We've made a really dense, psychedelic record. We've made a really heavy record, and it isn't the right thing for us. I understand and know that. First and foremost, we're a pop band. I haven't thought about that for a long time, and now it's in the forefront of my mind."Posted on 31 Mar 2010 10:00 to category : Music News
