Krieger commends Gibson SGs
The founder member of The Doors said he had first been inspired to purchase an SG after seeing one being played by Chuck Berry.
However, he admitted to Guitarist magazine that it was "kind of an accident", as he had been playing folk and flamenco music rather than rock up until this point.
"I hadn't really got into electric guitar," Krieger commented.
The rock veteran stated that he particularly liked the look of the instrument, as its two horns made it look like a "devil's pitchfork".
Krieger was recently acknowledged by Rolling Stone magazine to be one of the top 100 electric guitar players of all time.
