La Roux to ditch synths?
La Roux are bored of "synth music".
Singer Elly Jackson - who forms the band with producer and composer Ben Langmaid - admitted she is tired of the style of music the pair became famous for, and is planning a new direction for their next record.
She said: "I don't want to make synth music for the rest of my life. There was a time when I was into that, but whatever, it's done with, it's gone.
"The whole genre is so over. It was my thing and I'm bored with it. If I see anything more '80s-themed, I'm going to bust."
While Elly knows how she wants the group to sound, she still wants to experiment before unveiling it to fans.
She explained to spinnermusic.co.uk: "I'm impatient for a new direction as anybody else is, but I think it's going to be a bit of a new discovery. We still have some experimenting to be done."
Elly also revealed the album is likely to be shorter than their self titled debut.
She added: "I want the next album to be more human, more open, warmer. Short and sweet is really the way it goes down. I don't like 14-track albums anymore. I want it to be nine or 10 tracks; sort of a brick of work."Posted on 28 Oct 2010 09:45 to category : Music News
