Lady Gaga's Born This Way tops Billboard chart with 1.1 million sales
Lady Gaga's second album Born This Way has topped the US Billboard chart after selling more than one million copies in its first week alone.
The pop star's sophomore album shifted an enormous 1,108,000 copies, which made it the biggest opening week sales since 50 Cent's The Massacre, which sold 1,141,000 in its first week back in 2005.
Although the piano player and singer is a hugely popular musician, it is believe that Amazon's two-day special price of 99 cents for the entire album massively boosted sales.
Regardless, Gaga is only the fifth female musician to achieve the amazing landmark of one million plus sales in seven days.
Fans will be surprised to hear that this is Lady Gaga's first ever number one album in the US.
Her debut album The Fame, which first brought our attention to a global star in the making, peaked at number two.
Such is her current popularity that the incandescent fashionista finally knocked off the "most powerful women in British music" from the top of the UK album charts.
Adele's 16-week reign with her own follow-up album 21 finally came to an end when Gaga's UK sales of 215,000 "walked" right into number one.
