Lars Ulrich pays tribute to Ronnie James Dio
Metallica's Lars Ulrich the mand behind the drum kit has written an open letter paying tribute to Ronnie James Dio, following the death of the Black Sabbath star at the age of 67.
Ulrich explained that Dio had been one of his main inspirations to become a musician, especially after the pair met in 1976 when Dio was in Rainbow and Ulrich attended one of their shows.
"I was literally in the front row and the couple of times we made eye contact you made me feel like the most important person in the world," the drummer stated.
He added that it had been an honour to share a stage with Dio in 2007.
Download Festival has also announced its intention to pay tribute to the Black Sabbath singer at its event this year.
One of the stages at the festival is to be renamed the Ronnie James Dio Stage in tribute to the influential performer.Posted on 17 May 2010 16:51 to category : Music News
