Leading guitar players in tribute to Pearl Jam
Some of the world’s greatest ever guitar players have contributed towards a book that celebrates music, history and the impact of Pearl Jam.
Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young have all added something special to the extraordinary book which charts the music history of the equally renowned guitar heavy Pearl Jam through the ages, reported NME.
Pearl Jam 20 will be published at the same time a film documentary of the same name comes out, directed by Cameron Crowe.
Produced and compiled by Jonathan Cohen and Mark Wilkinson, it has been described as the "aesthetically stunning, definitive chronicle of the band's past two decades".
Crowe, who directed Almost Famous, the cult movie homage to rock music, told Rolling Stone that the film feature would "the best souvenirs of the past, some fabled footage you've heard exists but have never seen and some interviews".
The bass player from Pearl Jam, Jeff Ament, called the film "Cameron's love letter to us" but explained that although it was complimentary it didn't shy away from showing the painful moments too.
Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine, he said: "It shows our growing pains and some real bad times. It was just really hard to watch."
Pearl Jam formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Their debut album Ten is still their most commercially successful album of all time, having sold over ten million copies worldwide.
