Led Zeppelin bassist glad to be back on the road
Led Zeppelin's bass guitar player has revealed that the band's reunion gig in 2007 got him enthused about performing live again.
John Paul Jones is now touring as part of supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, which features Josh Homme on electric guitar and Dave Grohl on the drum kit.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Jones revealed that he had been reluctant to join another group after Led Zeppelin split up, because he thought no other band could ever be as good.
The group performed a reunion gig at the O2 Arena in London two years ago, but singer Robert Plant ruled out a permanent reformation, concentrating instead on his collaboration with Alison Krauss.
Jones planned to work with electric guitar player Jimmy Page on a new project instead, although this did not materialise and he went on to join Them Crooked Vultures.
"I've always felt at home on stage," he commented.
"When Dave came along and said 'do you fancy trying out with Josh?', I jumped at it."
The band's UK tour commences in Plymouth later this month, before calling at places such as Blackpool, Birmingham, Edinburgh and London.
