Lenny Kravitz jams with Jay-Z and Drake on his new album
One of the coolest, most talented musicians to have come out of the US might be three years off his 50th birthday, but his creative body of music continues to evolve much to the surprise of fans and music industry critics.
The inimitable Lenny Kravitz has revealed that he has been rocking a decidedly hip hop feel on a number of tracks from his much anticipated studio album Black and White America.
Speaking to Billboard, the Fly Away musician said that when he was making one of the tracks, he felt a connection with something that was decidedly hip hop.
Kravitz said: "When I wrote Boongie Drop I heard a rap in the middle, and I immediately heard Jay's voice.
"We had collaborated twice before, so I called him and when I went to New York I put him on the track."
The star also recruited Drake on the track Sunflower, who was more than happy to collaborate with someone he admires.
Out on August 30th, Black and White America is Kravitz's ninth album of his career.
His 1998 album 5 earned the star his first two Grammys.
