Liam Gallagher has announced that he wants Johnny Depp to star in a movie he is making about The Beatles.

The former Oasis frontman wants him to play Derek Taylor, the band's publicist, which may come as a relief to fans of the Fab Four who think Depp does not resemble any of their idols.

Speaking to Q magazine, Gallagher, who plays the acoustic guitar, talked about his plans to adapt Richard DiLello's The Longest Cocktail Party: An Insider's Diary Of The Beatles, Their Million Dollar Apple Empire And Its Wild Rise And Fall.

He told the magazine: "He's up there with Lennon. The film script is done. It's gonna blow people's minds, man. I'm just waiting to find out when we choose the actors. I want Johnny Depp to play Derek Taylor. It's got Johnny Depp written all over it, man."

This movie is the latest hobby for the musician turned fashion designer turned film producer, whose new band, Beady Eye, have been wooing the industry with their debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding.

It's no secret that Gallagher is a huge fan of The Beatles, especially piano player John Lennon. The singer even named one of his children after the iconic music star.

Ringo Starr recently revealed to Live magazine that The Beatles were lucky to get him to play drums for their band as at the time of them asking he was already quite famous in Liverpool.
