Madonna gets in on the art of clever political commentary
It might seem odd at first that the queen of pop is commenting on European politics, but she is an Italian-American after all, and very proud of her heritage.
Madonna, who has been promoting her new film WE - based on the controversial love affair between King Edward VIII and American socialite Wallis Simpson in the early part of the 20th century - showed she was quite the voracious reader of political magazines when asked what she thought of Silvio Berlusconi.
"What do I think about Berlusconi? I wouldn't like to talk about it now. But didn't The Economist say it all?"
It was a clever remark. The Economist's front cover showed a picture of Berlusconi with the headline "The man who screwed an entire country."
The music world is now waiting with baited breath for the global superstar's next album, which she is set to be working on. The Material Girl has been performing successfully since the 1980s.
