Madonna's new single comes under fire

Madonna has been accused of copying part of a song from a Brazilian singer without his permission.

Madonna's comeback single Gimme All Your Luvin' has been critically lauded by peers and fans alike, but one Brazilian popstar is having trouble with it.

Joao Brasil and his record company Jam are currently debating whether to bring legal action against the queen of pop because of what they claim is an uncanny likeness to the Brazilian singer's song.

Mr Brasil said on his website: "I love Madonna! I'm a big fan of her work. I will not sue anyone! I'm not accusing anyone! I just think the chorus sounds similar, and I did it first."

Speaking further to the Brazilian newspaper Folha da Sao Paulo, he said he isn't quite sure what has happened with Madonna's track and his song LOVE Banana and why there is such a likeness.

"If it's plagiarism, then even better," he said. "She is always at the cutting edge of music, so it's a good sign about what I do."

He then went on to say that he is considering leaving it to his record company to decide what to do.

"The last thing I need in my life is a fight against Madonna," he told the newspaper.

The material girl's new studio album is entitled MDNA and comes out next month.
