Manchester voted best city for live music
Manchester has been voted as having the best live music scene in the country in a poll of more than 3,000 people.
The survey was conducted by copyright collection body PRS for Music and saw 77 per cent of people in the north-west city answer in the affirmative when asked if there are enough local gigs in their area.
Manchester finished narrowly ahead of Newcastle in the results, while there was also places in the top five for Nottingham, Lancashire and London, reports NME.
Rural counties fared worst when it came to the question, with Derbyshire sitting at the bottom of the poll.
Other areas where local music fans are unhappy about their choice of gigs included Somerset, Yorkshire, Kent and Essex.
A host of top acts are set to bring their musical instruments to Manchester this year, with the MEN Arena due to host the likes of Arcade Fire, Blink 182, Iron Maiden, Rihanna and Roger Waters performing The Wall live.
In the next month, Funeral Party, Thin Lizzy, Anna Calvi, The Walkmen, Jessie J and Roxy Music will all be taking to the stage at different venues in the metropolis.
