Manic Street Preachers 'delighted to work with Duff McKagan'

Manic Street Preachers enjoyed working with some of their heroes while recording Postcards From a Young Man.

James Dean Bradfield, the lead singer of Manic Street Preachers, has said the group were delighted to work with bass guitar player Duff McKagan on their latest record.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the star explained that the Manics had made the conscious decision to treat the Postcards From a Young Man album as a celebration of the band's past.

Part of this process involved asking some of their heroes to contribute to the record, including the Velvet Underground's John Cale and Ian McCulloch from Echo and the Bunnymen.

Bass guitar player McKagan featured on the A Billion Balconies Facing the Sun track, much to the delight of Nicky Wire and the rest of the Manics.

"I can't believe we have Duff McKagan from Guns N' Roses on the album. He is one of Nick's favourite players. It does blast away all your cynicism when stuff like that happens," Dean Bradfield explained.

The record was generally well-received by critics and featured in several end-of-year polls in music magazines.

NME, Uncut and Mojo all included Postcards From a Young Man in their lists of albums of 2010.
