Manic Street Preachers still relevant
Manic Street Preachers feel lucky they're still "pretty relevant'.
The Welsh rockers - who released debut album 'Generation Terrorists' in 1992 - know it is difficult to have a long career and still hold on to a devoted fan base.
Bassist Nicky Wire said: "These are tough times for guitar bands. We're on our tenth album, a lot of bands get to their tenth album and they don't really mean anything, I think luckily enough, we're still pretty relevant."
The rocker admitted the band put their "everything" into creating their new LP, 'Postcards From A Young Man', which is to be released on September 20.
He continued to radio station Xfm: "We put everything we can into this. We treated it like 'Generation Terrrorists', something that can be generally uplifting and maybe get their mind thinking as well."
The 'Everything Must Go' hitmaker recently described the new offering as "one last attempt at mass communication", and revealed while the record is radio-friendly, it still has a "punk" feel about it.
He said: "It's got a bit of a classic rock vibe about it, but it's still got that shiny, rock'n'roll punk energy we've always had. We still write about the same things, we're still energised by the same subjects that made us write songs back when we were 15, 16 years old."Posted on 4 Aug 2010 16:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News
