Matt Cardle relishes newfound musical "control"
Talking to The Sun, the X Factor champ, who famously belted out Katy Perry's Firework on the programme back in 2010, has revealed his excitement after parting ways with the record label he had been with.
"I feel super-excited to be finally in control, and fully in control of what I am doing musically and the direction I am going in," the Run For Your Life singer told the paper.
Matt appeared on The X Factor in the same year as youthful boy band One Direction, who he beat into third place. Nothing's Real But Love crooner Rebecca Ferguson came second that year.
He scored a number one hit with single When We Collide shortly after competing on the show. Run For Your Life then hit number six. Matt also enjoyed number 2 success with debut album Letters.
"I think we were going in different ways," he also told The Sun of the situation regarding now ex-label Columbia Records.
