Metallica promise "crazy" new sound on next album
Drummer Lars Ulrich explained that the iconic metal band have indulged in more guitar solos for the forthcoming record, which will be the quartet's first release in four years, following the success of Death Magnetic.
There has been lots of activity around Metallica in recent weeks, with the release of their live DVD Quebec Magnetic, as well as forming their own record label in order to have the rights to all of their early master tapes.
The creation of Blackened Records ended a 28-year relationship with Warner Music Group and follows-on from Blink-182 also announcing a split with their major record label.
Speaking about the new album, due to be released in 2014, Ulrich told Metal Hammer: "The stuff that we were banging out yesterday, it felt heavy, it felt energetic, it was loud, it was fast, it was rocking, it was crazy. The snare drum was on there and there were guitar solos, in case anybody was wondering.''
Death Magnetic received critical acclaim and signalled Metallica embarking on one of the highest grossing tours ever.
