Metallica to make 3D documentary
The band, who have been jamming with Lou Reed in the studio on what is set to be a monster album – entitled Lulu – have hired Charlotte Huggins, a well respected producer known for her 3D films, to kick start the project, reported Deadline.
Ms Huggins has worked on 3D epics like Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
Metallica are said to be self-financing the documentary about themselves and are searching for the perfect director who will get their story across perfectly.
According to their website, Metallica are the seventh biggest selling act in US music history. Formed in 1981, the band have gone on to produce nine studio albums.
Their latest offering is seen as something of a creative departure, prominent for being based on German playwright Frank Wedekind's 1913 play.
The album is released on October 31st.
