Michael Cera 'enjoyed playing guitar as Scott Pilgrim'
Michael Cera has spoken out about how much he enjoyed playing the guitar for his role as the titular hero in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
The Superbad and Juno actor picked up the instrument for the role and said he used to play the guitar when he was younger.
"I've never had to courage to be in a band, so it was fun to pretend for a few weeks. I was feeling it. In places I was really feeling it," he said.
The music played by Cera's band in the film was written specially for the movie by singer-songwriter Beck, with Bryan Lee O'Malley, who wrote the comic books on which Scott Pilgrim is based, telling the Guardian that they persuaded the musician to take part by storming his tour bus.
Director Edgar Wright - who also helmed the pair of Simon Pegg films Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead - explained that music was always going to play a large part of the film because it is about young people.
