br /> The 37-year-old Japanese violinist, who shot to fame as a child prodigy in the late 1970s, told Janelle Gelfand of the Cincinnati Enquirer that she believes the enthusiasm of young classical musicians and new composition pieces will keep the genre going for many decades to come.

She commented: "The audiences, presenters, teachers, artists and students that I encounter in my travels and projects are going to transport the genre into the future."

After a lifetime of playing the violin, Midori suggested that she continues to be inspired by music and claimed that every time she plays there "are new rewards and personal discoveries" to be made.

Midori is heading to the UK in May for three concert dates, playing St George's in Bristol on the 8th, Wigmore Hall in London on the 9th and the Philharmonic Hall in Liverpool on the 10th.
