Morrissey attacks government over Tottenham riots

Not satisfied with just singing songs, the former Smiths frontman Morrissey has added his two cents to the public conversation about the Tottenham riots.

Morrissey has once again launched himself into the public conversation about major news events by attacking the government over its response to the Tottenham riots that sparked up over the weekend and have since spilled out into other parts of the UK.

Only recently the former Smiths frontman had caused outrage when he insensitively compared the recent Norway massacre to the fast-food mass killing of animals for burger meat.

Speaking this time at a concert at London's O2 Academy in Brixton, Morrissey not only slammed the prime minister David Cameron, but also launched into a verbal tirade against the royal family.

The singer-songwriter told bewildered fans that David Cameron had never been to Tottenham implying that the prime minister knew nothing about the reality of life there.

He added: "In what our slanted media called the student riots, Charles and 'Camel' came face to face with the British public, without the protection of Buckingham Palace or the police. And what happened to them, I couldn't stop laughing about for weeks - no, months."

Despite of this, the concert, which saw him play both hits from the Smiths back catalogue and tracks from his solo collection, was a success.

Morrissey will be releasing an autobiography in 2012.
