A rare booklet of music from the classical piano player Mozart that was set to be auctioned has now been withdrawn because it should not have been there.

It was donated to an Oxfam store in Reading, Berkshire, by mistake, and was discovered in a box of other sheet music, reported the BBC.

An Oxfam spokesperson said that they had been contacted by a woman who explained to them that it had been accidently bundled into the box.

The spokesperson told the BBC: "It has been withdrawn pending an investigation into the claim. We're in discussions with the donor and have asked her to come forward with proof that it is hers."

Oxfam has an informal policy of goodwill with its donors, which it said would be maintained.

Printed in 1765, the sheet music was compiled when Mozart was visiting the city of London. Although he was still only eight-years-old, the prodigious musician was already known across the world for his amazing talent.

The sonatas in the booklet were for both the piano and violin.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756. A few days before his fifth birthday, it took the precious young pianist only 30-minutes to master his first composition.
