Mumford and Sons to record Sigh No More follow-up this year
Indie-folk band Mumford and Sons are looking to head into the studio later in 2011 to begin work on the follow-up to their hugely successful debut record Sigh No More.
Ben Lovett, the keyboard player from the group, told Rolling Stone: "We want to get the second album recorded this year and we're hoping to have gigged the record in before going to the studio."
They are to team up once again with Markus Dravs, the man who produced Sigh No More.
Lovett explained the producer is great at bringing some structure and order when the band are in the studio, as that is not something they excel at themselves.
He stated work has already begun on new material, with one of his favourite tracks so far - Lover of the Light - featuring lead singer Marcus Mumford playing the drums.
The keyboard player revealed six new songs had been written in January when the group decamped to a farm in Nashville.
Mumford and Sons are currently in Ireland and are due to play a show in Cork tonight (March 14th).
This will be followed up by shows in Galway, Limerick and Dublin over the course of this week.
