Muse guitar player mimes on the drum kit
The band, who are best known for hit albums such as Origin of Symmetry and Absolution, are widely regarded as one of the best live acts in the UK.
However, bosses at an Italian TV network asked the three-piece group to perform their latest record Uprising to a backing track.
The band therefore took the opportunity to make it clear that they were not actually playing, as Bellamy appeared to be bashing out random beats on the drum kit.
This is not the first time that a famous band has sabotaged a TV performance to show they were miming.
In 1983, Rick Parfitt of Status Quo deliberately fell on top of the drum kit and brought it crashing down in the middle of a Top of the Pops performance of Marguerita Time.
And on the same programme a decade earlier, The Faces played football on stage and had Radio 1 DJ John Peel mime the mandolin during a playback of Maggie May.Posted on 23 Sep 2009 13:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
