Muse 'want to play gig in space'
Electric guitar player Matt Bellamy has revealed rock band Muse have their sights set on performing a gig in space.
Speaking to the Sun, the singer explained that he is considering contacting Richard Branson about the possibility of making such an event happen as the businessman is currently in the process of building a spacecraft.
Bellamy said the group are keen to make their dream a reality.
"We've had some discussions about playing in space. Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real," he said.
The electric guitar player added that if a gig in space did go ahead, it is likely that Muse would have to "scale back" the flamboyant nature of their normal live shows.
He went on to explain he is sure organising such an event will be possible in his lifetime and stated he would love to have a role to play in a gig of that nature.
Muse already have several shows lined up for 2011, with six gigs due to take place during a tour of South America in March and April.
The band are set to perform in front of audiences in Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
