Music in the 21st century: The recycled guitar
CF Martin and Co, which was established in 1833, has a long history of crafting gorgeous acoustic guitars. With its latest green-guitar, it is taking its craft well into the 21st century.
Chris Martin, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, explained that CF Martin had a long commitment in research and development efforts to find alternative solutions to using rare woods.
"The use of this recycled traditional tone wood will complement the Sapele wood that this guitar utilises, allowing us to achieve the same structural integrity and traditional Martin sound," he said.
CF Martin has also put a lot of effort in testing the suitability of domestic woods like red birch, walnut, maple and cherry in the construction of acoustic guitars.
"Everyone is feeling the ecological and economic impact of tropical rainforest destruction, temperate forest mismanagement, global warming and species endangerment," the company stated on its website.
"Martin Guitar contributes to the preservation and management of natural resources."
