Music instruments not required for actor's latest role
An actor who was getting offered roles that required him to play music instruments will not be required to show off his skills for his latest role.
Mike Lee, 21, a senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will not be required to strum any stringed-instruments for his role in Midsummer, which is an interpretation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
It's a welcome relief for the aspiring actor who found himself playing a banjo for one production of Twelfth Night and a ukulele for another production of The Two Gentleman of Verona, reported the Journal Star.
He has now decided that it is an important part of his skill-base, so much so that he's added a musical section to his CV.
Speaking to the newspaper, Mr Lee said that he was initially annoyed that he was getting cast as characters that played music instruments as all he wanted to do was straight acting.
He's now more open to it, saying: "I'm definitely over that at this point. I'm into playing music. It's a cool way to balance it with acting."
He joked that although his character doesn't play a music instrument, he might stick in a "tuba at the last minute".
A Musical Instrument Retail Conference (MIRC) survey revealed that ukuleles are once again captivating the hearts of musicians with sales of the music instrument hitting record highs.
