Music producers and engineers offered Ian Brown Scholarship
The School of Sound Recording (SSR) is offering keen music producers and engineers the opportunity to take advantage of the newly-created Ian Brown Scholarship.
Named after the former Stone Roses frontman, the grant is worth £10,000 and acts to pay the fees for a student attending the SSR's flagship Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology course in London later this year.
The intention of the scheme is to uncover someone who is talented, creative and ambitious, as well as having the potential to offer something to the music industry.
Brown has long-standing links with SSR, using the organisation's services when it operated as a commercial recording studio.
He said he was honoured to be involved with the scheme.
"I have a long history with SSR from the early days recording with the Stone Roses and I hope the scholarship inspires the next generation of talented producers and artists," the singer explained.
Last year, Brown held a special homecoming gig in Manchester's Platt Fields Park.
The outdoor show that took place in June saw the solo star supported by the likes of Unkle, Bad Lieutenant, The Whip and Scratch Perverts in front of an audience of 15,000.
