Musicians support calls to protect music education
The Education Institute of Scotland (EIS) this week insisted that funding for music education north of the border should be maintained over the next few years.
Singer-songwriter Eddi Reader agrees, as her children have been among those to benefit from learning an instrument at school in Scotland.
"The joy on their faces confirmed I had made the right move bringing them to a Scottish school," she commented.
Percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie added that music education is very important because it teaches young people everything they need to survive in life.
"Please do not cut this lifeline," she said.
The EIS said music education is important because it helps children learn valuable social skills, as well as how to work both individually and in a group.Posted on 24 Dec 2009 13:00 to category : Instruments News
