A group of keen musicians with disabilities who play and engage with music through "specially-adapted" music instruments will be playing their biggest-ever concert in July.

Members of Music Arc in Leeds are already seasoned performers, but their performance of Food for Thought at Leeds City Museum represents a much grander affair than their usual shows, reported the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The specially-adapted music instruments allow participants with varying disabilities to use instruments in a number of ways, including with their hands, mouth and feet.

Julia de la Rios, coordinator of Music Arc, said that no disability was "too great" to stop anyone from becoming involved in the project.

She told the newspaper: "Members say it’s what they look forward to in the week and it really builds their confidence."

From bespoke colour-coded notes to specially adapted organ pedals hooked up to a sound machine to pictures on a mobile phone, Music Arc approaches the music-making process in an innovative way.

Music Arc is a Leeds-based charity that was first established in 1988. They make and perform their own music as well as deliver workshops across West Yorkshire to people with physical impairments.
