My Chemical Romance high five performances

My Chemical Romance prepare for each of their concerts by getting together with their road crew and giving each other high fives.

My Chemical Romance give each other high fives before every show.

'The Black Parade' hitmakers said they are often misinterpreted as being "spiritual" and insist they have no backstage pre-concert rituals as such, other than getting together with their crew for a brief moment and a celebratory hand gesture before taking to the stage.

Frontman Gerard Way said: "We're not praying, no. People think we're spiritual, I think. I don't know why.

"We try to get the whole crew together and the band and do high fives before the show and just have a minute to say, 'OK, we're ready to take the stage and do this.' "

Gerard also talked about the band's new single 'Na Na Na', and how he feels it is a paradoxical song which has meaningful lyrics and yet appears nonsensical at the same time.

He added to the Daily Record newspaper: "To give it a metaphorical or semi-poetic title would have gone against everything the song was about. It needed to be about the most base thing.

"To me, in spite of the fact the song is about something, it's really just saying 'na na na', which is really just white noise. It is also what the song is also speaking out against in a weird way."

My Chemical Romance's fourth album, 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys', is released on November 22.
