NAMM 2012: Fender Select Series Guitars & Bass Guitars Announced
The Fender Select Series of five electric guitars and two basses is designed as being "select instruments for select individuals." Slated as being the top of the range guitars, the release at NAMM 2012 of the Fender Select Series marks the release of specially voiced Fender Select Pickups. The Fender Select single coil and humbucking instruments provide a superb tone and incredible performance. Completed with a wide range of high end features, cutting edge design and stunning finishes, the Select Series are a new high for Fender guitars. All instruments ship in Custom G&G cases, including a strap, cable and polishing cloth. There are two models of Fender Select Stratocaster available. The Select Stratocaster offers a Bi-Flex truss rod system to ensure complete stability, meaning you can always get the most from this tone machine. Finished in Dark Cherry Burst and natural binding, on a sleek flame maple top, this guitar looks as good as it sounds. On the modern C shaped flame maple neck and compound radius flame maple fretboard we see 22 medium jumbo frets, black pearloid inlays and gloss finish. The addition of new Select single coil neck, middle and bridge pickups, with five way switching, provides the kind of tone people dream of. The Fender Select Stratocaster HSS builds on the Select Strat with the addition of a humbucking pickup, giving you the extra power you need to make your sound really roar. Fender's Select Telecaster range brings three new and innovative models, each including knurled chrome knobs, American Tele bridge with American Standard bent steel saddles and stamped brass plate. The Select Telecaster offers a gorgeous Violin Burst finish, with natural binding and a solid flame maple top. The modern "C" shaped maple neck is completed with a comfortable contoured heel and a Bi-Flex truss rod for added stability. The compound radius birdseye maple fretboard has 22 medium jumbo frets, black pearloid inlays and gloss finish. The signature tone of a Tele is to be found crisp and clear but with a new Select Series twist, with a no load tone control delivering uncolourd sound from the bridge when dimmed. The Select Carved Koa Top Telecaster is a stunning and unique take on the classic design, with an incredible Sienna Edge Burst finish. Fender promise the Koa model to be "sonically potent" due in part to the lightweight empress body and Koa top. The Select Carved Maple Top Telecaster is much the same as the above with the gorgeous exception of an Amber gloss lacquer finish and carved flame maple top. Fender Select Bass Guitars include a Precision and a Jazz model, with a range of prmeium features such as a High-Mass Vintage Bridge, Fender vintage-style tuners and knurled chrome knobs. The Select Precision Bass includes a beautiful two-colour Sunburst gloss-lacquer finish and flame maple top. The new Fender Select P Bass split coil pickup delivers a huge, clear and deep tone, which is made easily accessible via the "C" quartersawn maple neck with Posiflex graphite support rods. The Select Jazz Bass has a gorgeous Amber Burst gloss finish, with many the same features as the P. What marks the Jazz out though is the amazing new warm, pumping, full and snarling pickups.
