NAMM 2014: Fender 60th Anniversary Stratocasters Revealed
The new 60th Anniversary American Vintage 1954 Stratocaster honours the very first Strat model, which was named "as new and different as tomorrow" back in '54. It still rings true - capable of achieving exciting sounds and played by artists in various genres.
The American Vintage model has a two-piece ash body, maple neck and a 7.25" radius fingerboard with rolled edges and 21 vintage frets, as well as an American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge.
This 60th anniversary model has been crafted with new features and special accessories which include a vintage-design single-stitch tweed case and reproduction 1954 paperwork. There will only be 1,954 produced, and the first 54 will feature an engraved neck plate an certificate.
The Commemorative Stratocaster, made in the US, features an ash body with contoured heel, three specially-designed 1954 single-coil Strat pickups, gold hardware and a custom-engraved neck plate and headstock ingot, finished in a two-colour sunburst gloss.
The diamond anniversary is celebrated further with the Classic Player '50s Stratocaster. The Desert Sand finish, gold hardware and gold adonised aluminium pickguard was a classic look in the '50s era, and it's back with this anniversary model. Other features include a vintage-style heel-end truss rod adjustment, two-point synchronised tremolo bridge with stamped steel saddles and three American Vintage Strat single-coil pickups with five-way switching. A Pro Series hard shall case and special commemorative book are included.
A Fender Squier 60th Anniversary Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster has been released, for those who want to celebrate six decades of the Strat but are on a budget. The Aztec Gold gloss finish and gold hardware belie the price. Hardware includes three custom vintage-style single-coil Stratocaster pickups with five-way switching, a vintage-style synchronised tremolo bridge with six saddles and vintage-style tuners.
To celebrate the Strat's birthday, Fender are encouraging fans to take to Twitter and use the hashtag #Strat60 to tell the world what they love about the iconic guitar... and their favourite Strat player. Here's what Strat fans have said so far:
