Nas plans free music release

Nas is planning to give away tracks from his much-anticipated 'The Lost Tapes: Vol. 2' album for free - in a move against his record bosses who he feels haven't handled the record's release correctly.

Nas wants to give away some of his tracks for free.

The American rapper and MC revealed he is frustrated with how his record label Def Jam handled the release of his anticipated album 'The Lost Tapes: Vol. 2' - so he wants to include songs from it on a special-edition version of his next album due out later this year.

The musician - whose divorce from singer Kelis, the mother of his 17-month-old son Knight, was finalised last year - said: "Because I kind of lost time, I really wanted to release the album in December. But I'm starting my next album. So I feel like I'll probably give 'The Lost Tapes' as a deluxe, maybe, on the next album for free. I'm trying to figure that out now."

Nas also admitted he is unsure whether his new material will be released through his current record company.

He added to MTV News: "It's not safe to say that it's gonna be on Def Jam. You know, news at 11. We coming with the information on that soon."

In October, he blasted the record company for bungling the release of his finished album - which is the second part of the critically-acclaimed collection he released in 2002 and is supposed to show's his softer, more poetic side.

A leaked email message to company bosses expressed his anger over their lack to sufficiently promote his record.

In it he said: "You don't get another Nas recording that doesn't count against my deal ... PERIOD! Keep your bullst $200,000 fund. Open the REAL budget. This is a New York pioneer's ALBUM, there ain't many of us. I am ready to drop in the 4th quarter. You don't even have st coming out! Stop being your own worst enemy. Let's get money! (sic)"
