Nick Valensi: Next Strokes album will be an improvement on Angles
Electric guitar player Nick Valensi has said the next Strokes record will be an improvement on new album Angles.
Speaking to Pitchfork, the star explained he had not been happy with the recording process for the latest LP, which saw the group lay down their parts individually and communicate with lead singer Julian Casablancas via email.
Despite his reservations about what went on in the studio, Valensi said the band are evolving their approach to songwriting.
"We're all learning to work on each other's songs and learning how to deal with emotional issues that come up in relation to the songs, when to let go and when to fight and compromise," said the musician.
"I feel like we have a better album in us and it's going to come out soon."
The guitarist went on to express his hope that the next record can be made soon, while all the members of the group are focused on The Strokes.
They are lined up for a number of live shows around the world in 2011, with gigs planned in America, Portugal and Japan over the course of the year.
In July, they will also play at the Benicassim Festival in Spain.
