Nirvana exhibition to open in Seattle
An exhibition celebrating the music of legendary grunge band Nirvana is to open in Seattle next year.
Nirvana: Taking Punk to the Masses is to open at the Experience Music Project Museum on April 16th 2011 and is scheduled to run until April 22nd 2013.
It will feature guitars and drum kits used by the band, Kurt Cobain's handwritten lyrics for Nirvana songs and photos of the group's early years.
Krist Novoselic, the bass guitar player and co-founder of Nirvana, said that Cobain was a "visionary artist who touched people all over the world".
"It's great that there will soon be a collection that celebrates that contribution to music and culture," he added.
Last year, a special edition CD and DVD box set of Nirvana's famous performance at Reading Festival 1992 was released.
The concert had previously been voted as the band's greatest moment by readers of NME, as well as coming top in a Kerrang rundown of 100 Gigs That Shook The World.
