Nirvana members reunite

Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have reunited with producer Butch Vig - who recorded their seminal 'Nevermind' album - and recorded a song together.
Great deals on musical instruments

Nirvana bandmates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have recorded a song together.

The bassist and drummer in the 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' group - whose career was tragically cut short in 1994 by the suicide of frontman Kurt Cobain - recorded a track in Dave's garage, where he is working on the next album with his present band, Foo Fighters.

Dave also explained that Krist isn't the only person associated with the band he has been recording with, saying: "We've been in my garage recording totally old school analogue with Butch Vig, the guy that produced Nrivana's 'Nevermind' record.

"We had Bob Mould from Husker Du come in and sing a song with me. For me it was a dream come true. Krist Novoselic came in the other night and played bass on a song!"

Dave - who has been working on the album with bandmates Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear -said the band has seven tracks complete so far and that Butch is making Dave keep his promise to make the album the band's "heaviest yet".

Dave explained to BBC Radio 1: "I think I said in an interview 'we've going to make our heaviest record yet', and Butch was in England and he heard it, and he came back and he said, 'OK dude, we've got to make your heaviest record yet.

"The songs that we're recorded, there's not one acoustic guitar - there's not even an acoustic guitar in the house. So the whole record is full on, it's just full on."
