Noel Gallagher lends backing to England World Cup bid
Electric guitar player Noel Gallagher has given his backing to the English bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
He joins a host of stars, including Fatboy Slim, Kid British and Pete Tong, in becoming part of Umbro's I'm In campaign, which is designed to show the football authorities that the country is behind the bid.
In an 18-second video clip, Gallagher said it was a "travesty" that the World Cup had only been held once in England.
"It would bring the country together and the final will be just round the corner from my house," the electric guitar player joked.
Last month, the former Oasis star made a surprise cameo appearance at a Paul Weller gig in London, reported NME.
Gallagher joined Weller on stage to play two songs with his friend a cover of Oasis track Mucky Fingers and Weller's Echoes Round the Sun, a song he had helped the former Jam frontman to record.
