Oasis drummer to sell classic drum kit
Tony McCarroll is not just selling any old set of drums – it's the kit he used when the band recorded their smash hit album Definitely Maybe, which was released in August 1994.
He left the band acrimoniously in 1995, although Noel Gallagher denied this, putting it down to the fact the rest of them thought he wouldn't be able to 'cut the mustard'.
"I like Tony as a geezer but he wouldn't have been able to drum the new songs," Noel said at the time.
McCarroll told the Sun that he had even heard a rumour that Wayne Rooney might be interested in his drums.
"It has been locked away for years with all my old discs, so it's getting dusted down now," he said.
"It was a great recording set — Premier kit. Back in the day we would hire cymbals but the bass drum, toms and Black Beauty snare were mine. It's all up for auction."
He told the newspaper that he would be looking to give some of the proceeds to a music-related charity.
In 1999, McCarroll took Oasis to court over money he believed was owed to him.
He finally settled out of court, netting a cool £600,000.
