Opera is more stimulating than pop, says Blur star
Blur's bass guitar player Alex James has revealed that he does not find today's pop music very interesting.
The musician said he draws more inspiration from opera at the moment, as the genre is a "new world" to him, Digital Spy reports.
Speaking to ITV1 to promote new reality show Popstar to Operastar, he said he started listening to classical music after he realised that his love of pop music had faded.
"I heard the William Tell Overture and thought 'that sounds amazing'," he commented.
James added that the realisation that pop music was no longer hitting the spot for him came when he was listening to a number of younger bands.
"The music didn't connect in the same way anymore," he stated.
However, James is still active in the music industry, making a guest appearance on the debut album by indie band Bad Lieutenant, which includes two former members of New Order.Posted on 13 Jan 2010 16:00 to category : Music News
