Orchestra's music instruments found undamaged
At the beginning of December last year, Leeds Symphony Orchestra suffered the fate of having its precious batch of instruments taken from an industrial estate, when thieves stole the van in which they were kept.
The incident also happened a mere two hours before a planned concert, leaving members of the orchestra heartbroken.
However, the instruments have been found in an industrialised yard in Lancashire and are said to be undamaged.
Martin Binks, the orchestra's conductor told Wetherby News that his "heart sank" when he received a call from the police saying that the instruments had been "found dumped".
"I thought everything would be broken up and ruined, but no, astonishingly, everything had obviously been carefully unloaded and placed in the yard," he said.
"Even the covers were still on the two kettle drums, each of which is worth £3,500, all the other instruments were completely undamaged, the music was a touch damp because it had rained in the night but the stands and rostra were absolutely fine."
