Original Cure drummer 'wants to rejoin group'
The original drummer in The Cure has stated that he would love to rejoin his old band.
Lol Tolhurst, who used to sit behind the drum kit in the band, was speaking to Los Angeles' KXLU radio station when he said he wanted to play with them again.
Despite leaving the goth-rock group 20 years ago, Tolhurst still harbours a desire to play with Robert Smith and co once more.
He explained that he has spoken with the lead singer of the band about the possibility of getting the original line-up of the band together to play a series of shows to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the release of classic The Cure album Faith.
Last year, NME magazine named The Cure as the latest in their series of Godlike Geniuses.
Speaking after receiving the award, Smith commented: "Thanks to the fans, for buying the records, coming to the shows. If you've had half as much fun as we have it's been worth it."
