Paul McCartney gets hitched for the third time
McCartney got hitched to his fiancée Nancy Shevell, an American heiress, at Marylebone register office in the capital city with around 30 guests including his old time pal Ringo Starr, who unfortunately didn't play on his drums.
In what was seen as a poignant touch, the wedding was held on the same day as John Lennon's birthday. He would have been 71.
It was a markedly low key affair, with the reception held at the singer-songwriter's home in St John's Wood, which is close to Abbey Road studios.
When asked how he felt after tying the knot, a jubilant McCartney responded enthusiastically: "Terrific, thank you. I feel married. I feel absolutely wonderful."
The Fab Four icon first married in 1969 to Linda Eastman, an American model and passionate animal rights activist, at the very same register office. She passed away in 1998 after a battle with breast cancer.
His last marriage was a tumultuous one with Heather Mills, which was widely covered by tabloids. They divorced in 2008.
