Peavey guitar founder honours Mississippi roots
The founder of Peavey Electronics, which manufactures electric guitars and amps, has praised the company's Mississippi roots during a special event.
Hartley Peavey, who remains the chief executive officer of the company, was speaking at the Grammy Museum at a night that paid recognition to the fact that more than 40 musicians from the state have picked up a Grammy award at some point in their career.
He stated that Peavey Electronics has been based in Mississippi for its entire 45 years of existence and noted that the region had a rich musical history.
"It's the state that gave the world blues and rock and roll, and has produced more Grammy winners and nominees per capita than any other," he said. "It's an honour for Peavey Electronics to be part of that rich musical legacy."
Earlier this year, the Peavey IPR 1600 Power Amp won the Best New Power Amp Award at the Music & Sound Awards, while the company's VPYR series amp picked up the prize for product of the year for the second time in a row.Posted on 10 Feb 2010 17:30 to category : Music News
