Pete Townshend to release autobiography in 2012
Pete Townshend, the famous electric guitar player of English rock band The Who, is to publish his memoir in 2012.
Entitled Who He, the book will chart the story of Townshend, from his early years in Chiswick to his musical breakthrough with The Who, as well as tackling some of the controversial moments of his life and the charitable work he still continues to be part of.
The book has been some 15 years in the making, and he first began working on it in the mid-90s.
David Hirshey, executive editor at Harper Collins, said: "In the 1970s, Pete Townshend famously asked the musical question ‘Who are you?’ Now, in his autobiography, generations of fans will finally get the answer they’ve been waiting for."
The Who formed in 1964 and quickly became known for their enthusiastic live performances which were full of exceptional frantic energy and typical rock and roll destruction of music instruments. They have sold over 100 million records.
