Peter Hook to play Joy Division album Closer in full
Bass guitar player Peter Hook is to perform classic Joy Division album Closer at a special gig in Manchester.
The star will perform the record in its entirety with his current band The Light at The Factory venue in the city on May 18th, reports NME.
Tickets for the show go on sale on Thursday (March 10th), with some of the proceeds due to be donated to the Keith Bennett Appeal and charity Mind.
Hook and The Light are also planning to perform another Joy Division album at two separate gigs next month.
The bass guitar player will play tracks from Unknown Pleasures on April 23rd at the London Scala and Edinburgh's Liquid Room on April 25th.
Earlier this week, Hook defended the decision to use Joy Division songs as the basis for some of his live shows in an interview with BBC News.
The bassist claimed there is a large audience of people who want to hear the classic tunes.
"If I had £1 for every 45-year-old bloke who was in front of me crying when you launch into Insight or New Dawn Fades, I probably wouldn't have to do it in the first place," he said.
