Peter Hook to use bass guitars created from Hacienda floor
Joy Division and New Order musician Peter Hook is to use specially-created bass guitars made from the dancefloor of legendary Manchester nightclub the Hacienda.
A total of six bass guitars made from the material are being built, with the first three set to be displayed at 'An Evening with Peter Hook' that is taking place in Salford next week (November 12th 2010), reports the Manchester Evening News.
Chris Hewitt, Hook's business partner, said: "Apart from a light coat of varnish, it is how the original floor was taken up so they feature cigarette burns and marks."
Two of the bass guitars have already been sold to an American television producer.
Following the Salford show, Hook is set to go on tour in Italy and the US with his new band The Light.
He will play shows in Milan, Treviso and Rome this month, heading to America for the start of December.
